Review: Collection Work The Colour Primed & Ready Face Primer

I was super happy with my collection concealer (Collection Concealer) and Highlighter (Way to Glow) that I thought maybe I should really venture into their other products. I don’t break out with both products so I thought yeah, the brand looks safe and well-formulated enough. So next I tried is their Face Primer called Primed & Ready which is only PhP 349 per tube of 18mL. I know it is pretty small, but you only need a pea-size on each side of your face and it is enough.

The Collection Work the Colour Face Primer is a clear, silicone-based formula. I originally bought it to be used as an eyeshadow primer, thinking that maybe it is purely marketing strategy that’s why brands segregate eyeshadow primers from face primers.
Verdict:

1.    When used as an eyeshadow primer
My lids are oily and I stay for about 1-2 hours in the gym so I was really able to test it. For sure it makes the skin base very very smooth and primed -- that much gives this product the A+ especially when you swatch it…but the eyeshadow will not stay put and can even move after about 8 hours when you use this as a base.  I also noticed that the eyeshadow color becomes less vibrant when used on top of this clear primer. So after about a week  of testing, I went back to my ever reliable Etude Proof 10 Eye Primer (review on this eye primer may be viewed on this link: Proof10). Conclusion: This product cannot double as an eyeshadow primer if you have oily eyelids.
2.    When used as a face primer
It goes on very smooth on the T-zone area and the cheeks, which are parts of my face with different levels of oiliness. It creates a fancy base for foundation that stays put for hours. I also noticed that even after sweating for a bit during my morning routine and travel (It is quite hot in the Philippines), I do not need to powder my nose by the time I reach the office. I also went on without retouching with powder for 8 hours and it held up pretty well. After 8 hours though, you have to cut it some slack, get the powder and fix it a bit. But after that, it will still look acceptable enough to stretch it for a dinner out.
My skin is combination to oily, depending on how hot and humid it is, so I may not be very reliable to assess if it does not dry out the skin, but for us oily girls, I never experienced any patches or separation within the 8 hours of no retouch. That’s quite impressive. I have been raving for weeks about how effective my Marshmallow Finish Powder by Canmake is, but take note that I did not use it within the next 8 hours…. So Collection Face Primer gets my thumbs up for keeping my face fresh and not oily from the time I reach my office desk until about 330PM!

I tested it for 2 straight days and then on the 3rd day, sadly, it broke me out. I developed a couple of pimples on my right cheek and had to give it a halt. Disclaimer: I break out quite easily with any face product that blocks my pores that’s why BB creams were very very popular with me for quite a loooong time (BB Creams allow my facial pores to breathe; this is also why I am super impressed with my L’oreal Super Blendable Foundation and Za True White Foundation because both do not break me out).

If you are the type who does not break out easily or you just need a one-time use primer for an event, this primer works as it has committed, and well enough for 8 hours. Maybe it is just my skin that cannot handle the ingredients. It is truly hard to look for a good face primer from the drugstores/high street brands but I will continuously be on the hunt and will inform you right away once I find one!

Great Smelling Lipsticks That Will Lift Up Your Mood!

If you are like me who loves using great smelling lip products, then read on. Over the years of using many lip products, I noticed this year that I would normally reach out for those that smell nice and I end up using them every day. Here are four of my top picks:

RIMMEL LASTING FINISH BY KATE
This is the Kate Moss edition of lasting finish lipsticks in black tubes. It smells like a perfumed lipstick, like a sweet floral scent. The shade that I am most drawn to is the first one that I had which is the 08 – an old rose shade. Rimmel lipsticks are not available in the makeup stores in the Philippines but I saw it being sold in Cebu Pacific Airline Duty Free, but not with a flight that utilizes a small aircraft, for which is it not possible to stock on duty free items. The price at Cebu Pacific is only around PhP800-1000 when converted from USD, with 4 different shades of basic Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss. My highly recommended shades are:
1.    01 Matte Red (first from left)

2.    08 Matte Old Rose

3.    17 Matte Nude Pink (Second from Right; 08 is first from left)

MAC MATTE LIPSTICK
The one and only Mac lipstick I have so far comes in their classic bullet-shaped black tube. The shade I picked is Please Me, and I am telling you this lipstick smells a lot like Vanilla & Chocolate in one. It makes me smile in the morning when I finish my makeup!  This just lifts my mood with its sweet and soft scent that makes me want to eat it! This lipstick is available at SM Makati for PhP1,000. It’s not cheap. That is why I only have one tube :-P You can read my review for this specific product by scrolling down below on the next post ;)

CARGO HIGH INTENSITY GLOSS
I received this as a gift so I don’t know how much this is. I have not seen this in stores in the Philippines either but I thought I should share it under the category of fragrant lip products. The shade I have is in 01 Belgium and it is actually a thick lip gloss that provides not just a tint or a gloss. It actually gives enough of a chocolatey color on the lips while still being a lip gloss. This is probably the reason why it also smells so much like chocolate. As in chocolate. Like all the way milk chocolate drink. I have had this product for over a year and I am sure it is already depleted, but I can still smell its goodness when I open it. It is a twist type of dispensing so the product does not create a mess and does not get contaminated inside. I love it!

LUMENE WILD ROSE LIPSTICK
Another gift from a friend, these Lumene (Finnish) products are like Japanese products that deliver their A-game every time, every product. Going back to the topic of smell, it is a fragrant floral with a hint of fruity citrus flavor – just a slight hint of fruity though but it really smells perky.

If you would have a chance to purchase Lumene Makeups and Skin Care, I suggest you grab the opportunity, especially if it is on sale. The brand is very very good. I highly recommend it just like how I recommend any Japanese brand that I have blogged about.

So there you have it, my 4 picks on the fragrant lipsticks. Don't you just love using nice smelling products? To me it adds a feeling that I am not risking my skin on harsh chemicals. Mild and floral, citrus and sweet, vanilla and cinnamon, or chocolate to boot, makeup and skin care brands should really keep in mind that these great scents can trigger usage.http://kenoshasays.blogspot.com/2015/10/review-of-mac-matte-lipstick.html?m=1http://kenoshasays.blogspot.com/2015/10/review-of-mac-matte-lipstick.html?m=1http://kenoshasays.blogspot.com/2015/10/review-of-mac-matte-lipstick.html?m=1

Review of Mac Matte Lipstick

I know you're gonna ask where have I been, not testing any Mac products or blogging about them. Now I was at the Mac store for the very first time in my life (August 2015, because well, I usually resist using high-end products :-P) and was looking for a matte lipstick. I have heard great reviews about Mac lipsticks and I thought I should splurge once in a while and get this over with, prove if it is really truly worth it. The salesman highly recommended the shade Please Me when I asked for a wearable matte nude pink. And I am telling you this shade? IT’S THE BOMB! It suits any eyeshadow you use – whether nude, smokey, purple, blue, or any rave party color. It tones down the lips when you are rocking the heavy eye makeup but it also brings out the nice soft hues when you decide to go for the nudes and browns. It basically blends with whatever look – party or corporate – and that to me is just a stellar color! So each time I have a client meeting or an event, I would tend to use this because I am sure I will look good. I also get a lot of comments on the shade every time I use this. People would usually compliment me on the overall makeup or ask about the lip color. In my opinion, the reason why I get compliments on the full makeup is because Mac Matte Lipstick in Please Me just perfects every look and adds a lot of good effect in every color combination I create for my eyes and cheeks. I did test it for a week of practically the same eye makeup with different lipsticks and when I use Please Me, it just gets the nicest reactions every time compared to the other shades.

I really thought Mac lipsticks were just elite stuff, but using one product that actually blends with anything and can be used with a daytime or a nighttime look? Wow. The formula is also non-drying, it adds a lot of good creamy moisture on the lips while still keeping it matte. I really have only good things to say about this product and to be honest, I have put blogging about this on hold for a long time because I feel like I may not do it any justice with how I describe it.

I would recommend you to try at least one matte lipstick from Mac in the shade that you will tend to use more frequently so that you don’t feel bad about the PhP1,000 splurge on just one lipstick tube (I bought it at SM Makati) and I believe you will not regret it.

Hats off, this is the best matte lipstick I have ever used so far. It gets into the creases of your lips but does not give you a dry look. Sort of embedding  itself but leveling the creases on the lips as well. It actually looks buttery yet has a matte finish. If you will use it for 8 straight hours it can be dry by then, but not annoying. I would classify it as long wearing because I also used it at the gym and it stayed on, though a bit faded.

One thing you should understand is that this matte lipstick comes on creamy but glides like butter. It is not a thin finish or a light formula. It can feel a bit thick, but because it is creamy and does not dry the lips for less than 8 hours of application, you wouldn't feel annoyed with it.

I really love Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate in the shade 08 but after using Mac Matte in Please me, Rimmel Kate Moss now comes second fiddle. I still love Rimmel, don’t get me wrong. But overall, the one and only Mac Matte lipstick I purchased just blew me away, blew me away and continues to give me lots of good compliments J

So if you ever want to try Mac for the first time, go get their matte lipstick! Ask for Please Me …and you will surely get what you asked for!

Review: Shu Uemura Eye Lash Curler

I had a long-term relationship with my Shu Uem Lash Curler until it finally said goodbye in October 2015.

UNBOXING THE NEW SHU UEMURA EYELASH CURLER, 23 OCTOBER 2015

Nothing in this world will ever compare to my Shu Uemura Eye Lash Curler (SUELC) in terms of reliability and durability. Others may be better for Asian eyes, in terms of flatter curved shape and smaller size, or maybe more efficient to reach the side lashes, but I love my SUELC to bits and pieces because it has been with me in like for-evah!!!!  For the amount of time it has served me, nothing will ever beat that. I have recently repurchased it straight from Shu Uemura SM Makati, and for the current price of PhP1,400 it is absolutely worth all the peso (That’s about PhP156 per year if it reaches 9 years again).

I have had a bunch of eye lash curlers of different sorts I bought from the drugstores prior to 2006 (yes I was a makeup addict as early as far back in my younger days J). I even tried the battery-operated ones that heat up and supposedly allowed for faster curling. They just did not work on me. The classic metal and the plastic versions also break easily when I bring them in my purse. Either the metal would give up or if it is plastic, the spring with pop out. So I realized maybe these eye lash curlers were not made for travel, or cannot be subject to some pressure, no matter how gentle.

Then I decided I really should try the SUELC after a professional contact told me that it is the best eye lash curler in the world. And guess what, it served me for close to a decade (Yes! Close to 10 years! Can you imagine?).

I had my first SUELC in early 2006. I asked someone to buy it for me from the US because during those times, it will always be expensive buying it in the PHL. The converted price was about PhP700-800, which was sold at PhP 950 locally. I believe the box back then came with 2 extra silicone replacements apart from what was already attached on the curler itself. Now it just comes with one.

I replaced the silicone after 2 years and the next replacement was made after 3 years, which is in 2011. My guess is during the first 2 years, I was keeping my stuff in a place with really hot temperature and probably that is why the rubber easily broke. Towards the latter part of its years of service, I moved my stuff to a different place which is of better room temperature and has very little sunlight. Quite noticeably with this move, the rubber had a better lifespan. Since I ran out of silicone, this September 2015, I bought a drugstore brand called Marionnaud. And then after a couple of weeks, the metal broke. And well then it was really time to say goodbyeLLL
I held on to it even if it was broken hoping to actually compare it side by side with the new purchase. I was worried that they may have changed the shape or I might buy a different version or size. But no, it was still the exact same classic Shu Uem Lash Curler. I was told by their salesman that their new version is in gold with a tiny chain hanging but with that version, though you pay for the same price of PhP1400, you only get one silicone which is the one attached to it, no replacements. And Shu Uemura PHL does not sell the silicone replacements. No reason to be all excited with the gold. I am more after the silicone so I still bought the silver-colored classic version.
Shown here is where it broke, the right part of the clamp is encircled in red below.
You can see the broken side pushing outwards as I press the clamp.

How different is the  new one from the old? The new one curls ever so efficiently than the old one, and when I say efficient, it means it curls my long lash in one go at a very short period of about 3 seconds. Okay disclaimer, I still run it for an additonal 2 presses with 3 seconds each, but only because I have long lashes and the only way to curl them nicely is to curl the strands in 3 different points. But if I am in a hurry? 1-2 presses will do. And only 2-3 seconds needed per clamping. No kidding. The silicone material is too plump and bouncy that it adds help to curl the lashes no matter how thick. And for those with shorter lashes, one press is most definitely enough to curl them to a pretty curve. This I am dead sure.

Comparing it, the old one still curls nicely, but the silicone will not be as bouncy and will not be as helpful in adding more curve to your lashes. It still curls alright, but you will need at least 5-10 seconds and more points to press along the strands of the lash, especially if your lashes are long. But safe is it to claim that Shu Uem eye leash curlers will NEVER BRING YOU SHARPLY CORNERED BENDING OF YOUR LASHES. It honestly curls and it does not give you the L-shaped lashes, never ever!

So here I have shared with you something that is a totally good investment, in my experience. My lashes are not curly, but not too straight pointing down either. I still believe that I have Asian lashes that are a bit straight. My look gets better when my lashes are curled and it also widens my eyes and makes it look like they are awake and happy, if that makes sense :-P So after a full week of mourning, I just had to run to Shu Uem and buy the replacement. I hope I have justified how this expensive thing is just not so expensive after all J

Review on L'oreal True Match Super-Blendable Makeup Foundation

I posted this review on beautymnl.com and thought it would be nice to share the exact same thing with you guys. I just like giving other people ideas hoping it might help them cut the time on great finds:
Doesn't feel cakey. Doesn't separate or go in patches even on humid days. Absolutely full coverage even with just a small drop. It spreads evenly and goes on very thin but covers blemishes really well. I noticed that it can look dewy as you build it up but it is matte if you put only a little. If I want to make sure my skin looks nice despite the humid weather, I would use this and opt to just go easy on the moisturizer or primer or concealers so I won't feel like I have way too much gunk in my face at the end of the day.

I don't break out on this product. Definitely will repurchase. During these days when I am not having enough sun exposure, the shade Fresh Beige W4.5 is too yellow toned for my skin. So it is a must to keep the W4.5 and purchase a lighter shade for the rainy season. The only problem I have with this is the dispensing which is not very creative and not very hygienic. There is a tendency to over-dispense the liquid and end up returning the product back in the bottle. But I got this product on sale for only PhP600 so I won't complain (Mistakenly posted PhP500 on beautymnl.com, very sorry for that!!!). I love it to bits, the kind that I feel like I discovered and risked on my skin and turned out to be a good product after all! Definitely highly recommended considering they have a ton of different shades to choose from, no girl would have a bad skin day on this one.

I purchased this bottle at SM Centerpoint last 16 August 2015 and so far, this product just delivers. I do combine it with a gray undertoned foundation from Za, but only because my skin is not as dark these days as in the summer months. Overall, I am still a yellow-toned morena with a hint of neutral skin color.

The scariest thing in the world for makeup addicts and reviewers like me is the thought of breaking out. And more so if you paid dearly for the product only to bring those nasty pimples. Luckily this foundation did not give me any heartaches!!!

Feel free to comment below guys if you have some thoughts to share on this product or any recommended great foundations that won't ever let any of us beauties break the bank!

Review on BCL Baby Smooth Skin Clear Peeling Gel

Once I was offered by a skincare store to test their skin peeling gel and I was sooooo impressed by the results. Later however, when she told me the price, I was so shocked that I immediately backed off.

Then in one of my visits at the makeup section of the Landmark, I saw this peeling gel which is only PhP699. I swear guys, this peeling gel delivers! The BCL Baby Smooth Skin Clear Peeling Gel is a skin care product that I have been using for 2 months now, once a week. I don't need to use any scrubs anymore because I find that the BCL Peeling Gel gets the job done better.

I also tested it for white heads, and although it did not completely take out the entire thing unlike if you squeeze the pores, you could see that the pores cleared out. Plus no risk of blemishes versus squeezing out those clogs.

I haven't had any skin problems with it. I make sure to use a mild facial wash before using the BCL Peeling Gel. After peeling, I wash it with water, pat my skin with tissue, and then apply a moisturizer. If ever I would use a toner, I make sure that the toner is not harsh at all.

This product gives me a lot of skin radiance all throughout the week. Plus it has also controlled the formation of bumps around my nose, white heads, and pimples. I really love this product and I recommend it.

Shown in the photos below I used it at the back of my hand after swatching some eyeshadows:

Gently rub the gel with your fingers and you will see some dead skin cells coming off:

The skin cells have a slight color which came from the eyeshadow swatches I made on my skin previously:

I wiped it dry with a thick but soft tissue:

And now it is so smooth and clear :)

Concealers that I love!

I have been using concealers recently and it has remarkably made my makeup more put together. These are the concealers I totally recommend:

Naturactor
I use two types: One in 171 (green for reddish blemishes) and the other is my favorite 151 which is good for spot coverage all over the face and recommended for medium tones. The 171 I use for the areas that are reddish like around my nose and I dab just tiny tiny spots under my eyes. Then I cover them with the 151 using a tiny synthetic flat brush with soft but firm fibers (I use the Urban Decay flat brush that came with my Naked 1 Palette).

I'm telling you guys, the 151? Totally totally covers my blemishes like magic. I don't know what it does but it's like I thought it was so light-colored for my skin tone but once you apply it on top of a blemish either using a sponge or a blush, my gosh, all those blemishes? All gone. Like they melted and got erased by the cover up. Japanese skin care and makeups, I don't know what you guys do or how you do it, but you always always do it right. I would always say that if you go to a drugstore and you are clueless on what make up or skin care to buy, just look for the Japanese brands because so far, in my experience, they have never ever failed me (Allow me to link here my favorite face powder Canmake Marshmallow Finish in MB shade and for Mascara, the Dolly Wink Volumizing Mascara in Black. I also posted a test on the same mascara which proves it is gym-proof and sweat proof which you can check out here).

In  case you don't have the time to use the 171 (green naturactor concealer), the 151 will do just fine. In my opinion, the 151 is  very much powerful on its own, whether the blemish is reddish, bluish, or dark. Try it out!

I bought my Naturactor from Casa De Mori (Instagram: casademori, website: casademori.com)

I am also posting this today so you can still make it to my girl Casa De Mori's autumn sale which runs until 17 October 2015.
The Naturactor concealer pots are on crazy sale there for only PhP500 and ships worldwide. The pots have a lot of product in it and I seriously haven’t even hit the pan on mine. I bought both pots around 6 months ago. So it is definitely a steal girls! Check it out. It is worth every money. This product is beyond amazing, I love it love it love it.

Truth be told, I sometimes use it as a foundation, finished by the Canmake Face Powder and it works just as fine as a foundation.

Collection Concealer

The concealer on my second place is Collection Cosmetics Lasting Perfection Concealer in Medium shade. I like this product because it totally doesn’t move even after the gym. The only problem I have with this is that it only has 2 shades (Fair and Medium) and even the medium is still too light for my skin tone. So I use it only under my eyes. It is lighter for my skin color so it acts as a concealer and brightener in one.

I bought this concealer because it is very much of a cult product in the UK based on videos by Fleur De Force. I love this girl so much and she also usually gives this concealer tube as gifts and highly recommends it. It is in her makeup bag all the time.

This tube is available at the Landmark for only PhP299 and you can also check it out through their PHL website: Collection Cosmetics PH.

If you have recommended concealers that are available in the Philippines, please leave a comment below so I can check it out too. Thanks!! :)

L'oreal Fall Resist 3x = Best Anti-Hairfall Shampoo!

I have always wondered why I am not bald yet. It was a normal thing for me to have so much hair on the floor of my bedroom or on the drain filter in the shower. 3 days after cleaning my room and I know I need to just take out lots of hair balls again hahahahaha (the hair ball is an overstatement but you get the point!).

I have lots of hair but they are very fine and they break very easily. I used to have a classmate back in my teens who used here hair strands to floss her teeth. Not only is that yucky, it is also impossible for me to do. My hair strands just don't have the capacity to withstand that much friction or stress. Not that I plan to use it for that purpose.

From time to time, I would try anti-hair fall shampoos but I always end up stopping them because my scalp gets itchy or my hair gets to feel very dry. Usually it's the itchy scalp that ticks me off, making me resort to keeping another bottle of shampoo, the anti-dandruff variant, to take all that itchiness away. I actually don't know if anti-hair fall shampoos that make me itch are giving me dandruff, or if they are just making my scalp itch. Nevertheless, I usually go back to anti-dandruff products even if I don't have dandruff. So there, I have never really believed in all these promises about hair fall control shampoos. I thought they were just trying to be something but they turn out to be annoying. Maybe they do work but I can never use it long enough to ever find out.

I don't remember how I started using the L'oreal brand, but I suspect that I got attracted to the bottle color and overall design (yeah, I get fooled by those things! Hahahah!). So when I started using it, I noticed that I have been using it for a full 5 days and I still haven't itched a bit, not one bit! So I continued using it, and also noticed I ran out of anti-dandruff shampoo but not a problem because I'm not getting annoyed so far. And then after 3 weeks of using it, I ran out of conditioner (I use conditioner once or twice a week), so I decided to purchase the partner of the L'oreal hairfall shampoo.

A full month of using the shampoo and I noticed that I have less hair to pick up from my room and the shower drain. I use the conditioner only at night after coming from work. And because my hair is usually wet from sweating at the gym, I would assume it attracted so much dirt on my way home. So I still need to clean my hair, but so as not to dry it out, I just use a conditioner, just a small amount.

The shampoo is only PhP129 per 180mL bottle. I bought it from the Landmark supermarket. I can't remember the price of the conditioner but it should also be within that range for the same size. I love it so much, I am already on my second bottle for both the shampoo and conditioner and I even bought a bottle for my mom. I also recommend it to people who have problems with hair fall.

Finally, a hairfall shampoo that actually works and doesn't annoy! After 2 months of continued use, I feel like I have a head full of hair and that kind of stuff is unheard of in my life. All my life I always needed volumizers that end up drying my hair. But now, no need! The strands are clinging onto my scalp and when I comb my hair with my fingers, I feel like it has thickened. I now have the hair that I am truly born with! I luhveht!!! Thanks L'oreal!!!

Urban Decay Naked 1 versus Lorac Propalette

This is the hardest thing to do: Choosing between the Urban Decay Naked 1 (Naked1) and the Lorac Pro Eyeshadow Palette (Lorac Pro). Which one is better?

Allow me to say that I have never fallen in love this much with any of my makeups as much as I did with my Naked1, and now that I have my Lorac Pro, I think I am in love again!

Unboxing the Naked 1 looked like this:
It came with its best-seller Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, in a travel-sized bottle of 3.7mL.

Unboxing the Lorac Pro looked like this:

Some free sachets are added as inserts inside the flat box, the number of free items of course depend on how much you ordered.

The Lorac Pro also had its own eyeshadow primer in this set called Behind the Scenes Eye Primer in a travel size tube of 5.5g.

So what colors do I gravitate to in each palette?

Naked1

  • Everytime I open my Naked1, my eyes get attracted by the plum colors Hustle and Toasted.
  • Half Baked is the shade that will be tough to beat. I have never seen any gold eyeshadow this intense and it applies true to color despite my medium-toned skin.
  • I can use Darkhorse (5th shade from right) as eyeliner (instead of the shade Creep which is a black shade, 2nd from right) if I want a more toned down look.

  • Gunmetal comes off as real gray on my lids and I like it because it does not end up looking like indigo or navy blue as I build it up.

Lorac Pro

  • Garnet always gets to me big time, but the shade changes when applied on my skin color. This is just probably because I am medium-toned. You can test for yourself, but I am a bit disappointed with it because I was expecting a more vibrant color. It probably looks deeper and nicer with fair/lighter skin color.

  • I personally think the lighter shades are the best ones in this palette. Cream (2nd from top left row) is a nice transition shade for me, one that I worry would hit the pan very very easily!!!
  • Light Bronze (4th from lower left) is a nice color for the center of the eyelids to catch the light and give you a nice glow in the eyes.

  • If I am not in the mood for shimmer but I want to brighten my lids, would you ever believe that a medium-toned girl like me would usually go for the Light Pink eyeshadow? I mean really, this matte color is sooooo pretty. It does not totally appear pink but it gives you a nice white pinkish skin shade - lighter than my skin of course, but not chalky white either.
  • Slate comes off as indigo/bluish rather than what I expected to be gray on my lids.

What are the comparisons:

  • I find the Lorac Pro chalkier than the Naked1. Reviews would often describe Naked1 has a lot of fallout, but seriously, what fallout? I have never found it chalky at all. The colors are like deeply pressed in its pans and goes on buttery smooth. But with the Lorac Pro, I instantly felt its chalkiness. The powder just gets dusted as soon as you tap the brush on the eyeshadows.
  • Not to say that the Lorac Pro has a problem on being chalky, because whatever powder your brush picks up, it will stick on your lids especially if you used the primer that comes with it. So in essence, it is not that chalky type that would ruin your day because it will be gone after a few hours. No, not at all. This one is just stellar!
  • I love the variety of colors in the Lorac Pro. It is just something that makes my day each time I open it. Don't get me wrong, I had the same feeling with my Naked1 back when I first got it. I would even stare at my Naked1 for minutes before starting to apply makeup! But having 16 shades in the Lorac Pro versus 12 shades in the Naked1? More shade options = better.
  • Quality: Both are highly pigmented and stay on for hours.
  • Naked1 has bigger pan size than the tiny squares of the Lorac.
  • Both will be able to give you a daytime to nighttime eye look.
  • Lorac Pro has 8 shades of matte colors that are absolutely wearable in the office or during daytime.
  • Both cater to warm tones but I believe certain shades are suited for cool tones as well
    • Naked1 shades that are good for cool tones: Virgin, Sidecar, Toasted, and Smog
    • Lorac Pro shades that are good for cool tones: Mauve, Garnet, Nude, Champagne.
  • Gym-Proof? Absolutely! Both of them, with our without primer. Better with primer of course, but now, it doesn't matter if your primer is of good quality. I mean really, both palettes don't need the locking guarantee of a high-quality primer at all. These eyeshadow palettes are THE bomb! Both of them. Love them both to pieces and shades and tints and shimmers!
If I need to choose, which one would I pick? I will always love Urban Decay. It will always be a cult product for me. Urban Decay is a Game Changer in the world of palettes. But Lorac redefined it. I absolutely love having more in a sleek and simple pack. I would have loved the size of Naked1's pans, I mean every girl can dream, right? But at least I have 16 colors in the Lorac Pro. Another reason is because Lorac Pro has a looooooot of matte shades in it. 8 shades are matte out of 16 while Naked1 only has 2 shades matte out of 12. Basically all items on the top row of the Lorac Pro are matte.

Naked1 has more options for nightime events, making it more versatile. If you are the kind who loves to go out every night coming from work, this palette is the one for you. I guess I prefer everyday wearable makeup now such that I usually don't wear a lot of shimmer. At most, I would use satin finishes. This is why I would prefer the Lorac for the versatility of daytime matte colors and lighter shades that I can use, but still get these shades at high quality!

I have swatched mattes and lighter shades from other brands and these 2 brands are the only ones who never ever fail. Mattes or not, light or not.

I have them both so I am such a lucky girl. If you plan to buy both, there is no redundancy on the colors since I mentioned that the gray shade on both palettes appear differently on me. The black shade of Naked1 has tiny shimmers but not as evident as the ones from their Oil Slick shade (refer to my review on Book of Shadows Redux III). Gold from Lorac Pro was not able to come close to Naked1's Half Baked. Deep Purple from Lorac Pro is a lot deeper than the plummy Hustle from Naked1. Even the two eyeshadows that look like they are too close to each other's shades (Buck from Naked 1, 5th from left, versus Taupe from Lorac Pro, 3rd from upper left row) still have different shades when swatched. Taupe is deeper.

So there, I hope I was able to give you  an idea on which to buy as a starter palette. Both of these do not disappoint. Better if you can have them both because it is always important to collect the wearable shades and just buy singles of the bright and loud ones. Unless, your job requires otherwise!
